Heavy industry places tough demands on the reliability and
lifetime of the components utilized. That applies in particular
to incremental encoders installed to measure and monitor
speeds.
No matter if they are installed on drives in steel and
rolling mills, in mining operations, in crane systems or in the
oil and gas industry, each field of application has its own
specifications: from diff erent mounting solutions and extension
options to diff erent pulse rates, supplementary signal outputs,
integrated FOC transmitters through to stainless steel housings
or special certifi cations such as SIL / PL for functional safety
and ATEX / IECEx for potentially explosive atmospheres.
The challenge is to provide a tailor-made solution for each task and every mounting situation – and to guarantee the reliability of each and every solution.
Our partner, Johannes Hübner Fabrik elektrischer Maschinen GmbH, as a specialist for customised encoder solutions, can serve almost all requirements of heavy industry. The encoders are extremely robust and offer a long service life as well as high reliability.
Series | Types | Fields of applications |

FG 40 / FGH(J) 40 | solid shaft (flange) | solid shaft (flange / foot) | hollow shaft | for standard applications in heavy industry |
FG 40 Ex | solid shaft (flange) | for applications in potentially explosive atmospheres |
FGHJ 5 | hollow shaft | for applications on inverter-controlled drives with occurring shaft currents |
FGH 6 | hollow shaft | for applications on main drives |
FGH 8 | hollow shaft | for applications on main drives |
FGH 14 | hollow shaft | for applications on main drives |
FG 2 / FGHJ 2 | solid shaft (flange) | solid shaft | for applications on standard and auxiliary drives |
Versatile for measuring the speed of standard, main and auxiliary drives in steelworks and rolling mills, in mining as well as in harbour and crane systems.
Incremental encoders with through hollow shaft up to Ø 50 mm. Flat design. Ideal for mounting additional sensors such as speed switches, absolute encoders.
Extremely robust for main drives. With continuous hollow shaft up to Ø 80 mm. Mounted via insulated adapter flange on the free shaft end or directly on the shaft.
With continuous hollow shaft up to Ø 150 mm. Direct mounting on shaft. Flat design. Ideal for mounting additional sensors such as speed switches, absolute encoders.
Extremely robust and specially designed for safety applications in heavy industry. Hollow shafts up to Ø 20 mm, solid shafts up to Ø 14 mm.
Ideal for use on inverter-controlled drives with shaft currents. For hollow shafts with insulated bearings for shafts up to Ø 40 mm.
The incremental optical encoders FG 2 (solid shaft) and FGHJ 2 (hollow shaf) ensure the speed of standard, auxiliary and secondary drives is reliably measured.
The incremental Inox encoders are resistant to acids, alkalis and seawater. Hollow shafts up to Ø 17 mm. Solid shafts up to Ø 14 mm (flange or foot mounting).
Versatile use for speed detection on standard, main and auxiliary drives in potentially explosive atmospheres, in the oil and gas industry / petrochemical industry.
Occupational safety is important, which is why we have introduced a new addition to our well-established FGH 6 encoder system solution: a made-to-measure protective cover that reliably prevents accidents caused by rotating parts.
